Gwynne steps down citing 'torturous' national role

Shadow communities secretary Andrew Gwynne has resigned from his post as the new Labour leader Keir Starmer unveils his shadow cabinet.

In a resignation letter posted on Twitter, Mr Gwynne said he had supported Mr Starmer in his bid to become leader, but described his time on the front benches as a ‘mixed bag’.
