Half may miss September audit deadline

A top auditor has predicted that as many as half of councils may miss this year’s September 30 audit deadline.

Speaking at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy’s annual conference last week, Grant Thornton partner Paul Dossett said he would not be surprised if a similar proportion of local authorities met the statutory deadline for completing the 2020-21 audit to last year.
