The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) is a mandatory grant administered by the housing department of each local authority, of which there are 326 in England alone.
Perhaps, unsurprisingly, this means there is a high degree of variability in how it’s delivered from district to district. DFG is usually used to pay for larger adaptations, such as level-access shower, stairlifts, or ramps with an average grant value of around £7,000 across England. However, this ranges from £3,500 up to £17,500 in some areas.
