Inflexible funding may scupper apprenticeship levy

London Councils has warned a lack of flexibility on funding for apprenticeships could scupper the new levy scheme.

The apprenticeship levy, which came into force last week, means employers with payrolls of more than £3m – including all London boroughs and many councils outside of the capital – are charged 0.5% of their annual pay bill.
