The Spring Statement was exactly what it promised to be. Short, technical and really rather dull.
But this is not something which should be lamented. It confirms beyond a doubt that we have moved away from the twice-yearly rigmarole of arbitrarily announcing a raft of changes to spending and tax, a biannual rehearsal very few in the business world thanked us for.
