Former local government secretary Sajid Javid has stressed the importance of devolution in the drive towards levelling up the country.
Speaking at an event organised by the Legatum Institute think-tank this morning, former chancellor Mr Javid revealed how he had faced opposition to the policy from within government during his time at Marsham Street.
