Johnson stops short of closing parks but some shut anyway

Some UK councils have closed parks and other public spaces in a bid to protect people from the spread of coronavirus.

Following concerns that people were failing to practise social distancing in open spaces, Prime Minister Boris Johnson last night tightened restrictions to fight the pandemic, including banning the gathering of groups, but stopped short of closing parks in order to allow people to exercise.
