LGA calls for 'full assessment' of funding needs

Whitehall should commit to a ‘full assessment’ of the overall funding needs of the sector in the Spending Review and guarantee to fully fund them, the Local Government Association (LGA) has said.

In its response to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s (MHCLG) technical consultation on the 2020/21 finance settlement, which closes today, the LGA also said councils needed to know what 75% business rates retention and the fair funding review would mean for them.
