LGA shows impact of Government cuts in Budget plea

Local government leaders are ramping up the pressure on ministers to drop planned cuts in support for the sector or face more councils facing Northamptonshire-style crises.

The Local Government Association (LGA) today published a pre-Budget analysis of the impact of cuts next year on a notional typical council, ‘Anycouncil’. Millions of residents would see ‘key local services further dramatically reduced’, the LGA warns, if a planned £1.3bn cut in the Revenue Support Grant (RSG) goes ahead.
