Lessons from a year of challenges

As we approach a year of life in the ‘new normal’ it seems apt to reflect back on the journey we have made so far – both in humble appreciation of how services have adapted, and pride in staff and partners.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for everyone, with changes to working arrangements, differing operational environments, and ever changing rules and guidance. All this to juggle while continuing to provide vital support and protection to families, and progressing at pace on our improvement journey in Wakefield. But throughout the lockdowns and the tiers staff and partners have responded robustly, both in sustaining our improvement and adapting to children’s and families’ needs.
