Last week I spent a few days at a conference discussing the challenges facing local councils.
Unsurprisingly, promoting successful local economies were very much to the fore, but sat neatly alongside issues such as responding to an ageing population, digital, migration and ethics.
The conference was notable because it did not take place in the UK.
