Narey: Foster carers should be paid better

Foster carers should be ‘treated as professionals and properly remunerated,’ the leader of a government-commissioned sector stocktake has said.

Speaking at the National Children and Adult Services Conference today, Sir Martin Narey, who along with Mark Owers has been charged with making recommendations to improve fostering, said evidence gathered so far had found that recruitment of foster carers was ‘difficult and almost impossible in some areas’.
