Number of night-time hospital discharges increases

Rising numbers of elderly and vulnerable patients are being sent home from hospital at night despite calls to stop the practice, it has emerged.

The number of patients discharged between 11pm and 6am increased by more than a fifth in the five years since hospitals were ordered to stop overnight discharges.
