Chief executive of troubled Liverpool City Council has resigned from his post with immediate effect.
His resignation comes after a report to the council acknowledged the failing authority was not making as much process as was hoped.
A report to the council’s cabinet last month revealed the city’s commissioners found Liverpool ‘continues to lack the capacity and capabilities to address the critical improvement plans’.
