Road cost spirals and could rise further

Councillors have allocated £19m more to cover the rising cost of the Norwich Northern Distributor Road amid warnings the projected £205m cost may still rise.

A meeting of Norfolk CC’s policy and resources committee yesterday was told that the estimated cost of the new road had risen by 14% from the target cost of £179m, which had already risen from a 2013 estimate of £148m.
