Sacked director to face no further action from police

A South Somerset DC director sacked after allegedly using furloughed council staff to work on her private vineyard will face no further action from police.

Director of commercial and income generation, Clare Pestell, was dismissed for gross misconduct in October after a report by external investigator Richard Penn concluded there was evidence she ‘abused her position’ by asking council staff to help build glamping pods at her Dorset winery.
