Scrap all districts, says backbench Tory MP

A backbench Tory MP has called for all the district councils in England to be scrapped, as boroughs in Buckinghamshire commission a report into the future of local government in the county.

A new report by Alec Shelbrooke, who represents the West Yorkshire constituency of Elmet and Rothwell, calls for the current two-tier model to be replaced with a series of unitiary authority.
