Sector calls for action over care home purchasing plan

Local government has called for action so a £200m initiative to address hospital bed blocking avoids people spending too long in care homes.

In an open letter to health secretary Steve Barclay, senior officers’ group Solace, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services and the Local Government Association said wrap-around reablement support and clarity on how the funding will work were needed if plans to purchase extra care home spaces were to succeed.
