Sector hits back at PM

Town hall leaders have hit back at government claims that councils may be partly responsible for the crisis in social care funding.

Following reports this week that ministers plan to relax restrictions around increasing the social care precept as part of the local government finance settlement, a spokesman for Downing Street suggested under-performing councils were partly to blame and contributing to the growing problem of ‘bed blocking’ in the NHS.
