Short-term objectives reap short-term gains

Some colleagues have complained that the Budget was a bit dull. From a local government finance point of view it was one of the most memorable in some time.

The announcement of an extra £2bn for adult social care was an acknowledgement of all the lobbying there has been over the insufficient funding available for these key services.
