Soames backs Government's Carillion handling

The Government’s handling of the collapse of Carillion has been backed by one of the failed outsourcing company’s largest competitors.

Serco chief executive Rupert Soames told an Institute for Government seminar: ‘There’s a principal here. You’re a private company. You can go bust. The role of Government is to ensure continuity of service. I challenge anyone to name a single Carillion contract which hasn’t continued.'
