Soaring costs feared over social rent caps

Plans to cap social rent rises could cost London councils £23bn over the next 40 years, figures seen by The MJ have revealed.

As inflation soars, social rents, which are capped to the rate of consumer prices index inflation plus 1% as it stands in September, would have risen to double figures in April 2023.
