Southend chief exec departure ‘appropriately planned’

Southend Council has said procedures surrounding the departure of its former chief executive Rob Polkinghorne were carried out correctly – although lessons can be learnt.

An internal council review was set up last July following Mr Polkinghorne’s departure from his £185,000 a year post, just eight months into the job.
