Thurrock chief resigns

The chief executive of debt-ridden Thurrock Council, Lyn Carpenter, has resigned.

Council leader Mark Coxshall announced her departure at a cabinet meeting last night.

He told the meeting he had accepted Ms Carpenter’s resignation, tendered on Monday ‘with immediate effect’, and a new chief would be recruited in the New Year.
