Voter ID plans 'totally unnecessary'

The Government’s plans to make voter ID compulsory during the upcoming local elections are ‘over-bearing and totally unnecessary,’ the Electoral Reform Society has warned today.

Society chief executive, Darren Hughes, complained the Government was refusing to relax its plans for elections even though the number of allegations of electoral fraud in the UK had fallen.
