Warrington to be hit by statutory recommendation

Auditors are expected to issue a statutory recommendation over Warrington Council’s minimum revenue position (MRP) amid ongoing concern over its investment strategy and financial health.

Grant Thornton said in a report to councillors that the authority’s revenue position was ‘not prudent’ because it excludes millions of pounds relating to debt arising from Warrington’s investments, finance leases and private finance initiative arrangements.
