When care cannot cope

Austerity continues unabated for people needing adult social care as it does for local government in general.

Repeated surveys by the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) – and supported by separate studies from the National Audit Office – show that since 2010, adult social care has generated some £7bn in savings as part of the national austerity programme.
