Cllr David Hodge: Why I am quitting

Two years ago Conservative council colleagues from across the country approached me and asked me to run to be chairman of the Conservative Group at the Local Government Association (LGA).

At the time I was hesitant because leading Surrey and serving its residents is a duty I take very seriously – I didn’t want anything to detract from that. However, my colleagues insisted I would be the right person to tackle key issues affecting all councils and someone who would stand up and be counted.
