English councils have shed more than 100,000 jobs since the coalition came to power, an analysis by public services union the GMB has shown.

English councils have shed more than 100,000 jobs since the coalition came to power, an analysis by public services union the GMB has indicated.

At the end of the first quarter of 2010, the full-time equivalent local government workforce stood at 1,584,219, the GMB reported on 10 October.
