22% hike in adult care complaints

The LGO has reported a 22% annual increase in the number of complaints about adult social care providers registered by the CQC.

The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has reported a 22% annual increase in the number of complaints about adult social care providers registered by the Care Quality Commission.

Contributing to the hike in cases is the fact that since October 2010, the ombudsman's investigatory powers have been widened to consider complaints about personal care services from both private sector and local authority providers alike, and regardless of how care is funded.
