Combined authorities lack ‘maturity’

A metro mayor has said combined authorities are not ready to take on new powers.

Speaking to the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee, Mayor of the Tees Valley Combined Authority, Ben Houchen, said: ‘If the Government was just to dump every single power on Tees Valley tomorrow the system would fall over – we don’t have the maturity to handle it.’
