Cornish push for nation status defeated

Calls for Cornwall Council to pursue devolution on the scale of Wales or Scotland have been narrowly defeated by councillors.

A motion to seek ‘meaningful devolution’ was rejected at a meeting today by 38 votes to 36, with one abstention.
