Council chiefs ask for matched pay rise

Council chief executives have asked for the same pay rise as will be awarded to the rest of local government staff in 2021-22.

The Association of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers (ALACE) said top salaries have declined by 30% in the past decade and its members have been called on by the Government to tackle the pandemic, as well as Brexit.
