Council for the North 'vital for regional strategy’

Fresh calls have been made for a ‘mezzanine tier of government’ across the North to make major strategic decisions.

Writing in The MJ this week, director of think-tank IPPR North, Ed Cox, called for the creation of a Council for the North to drive industrial strategy, claiming the region’s cities were ‘too small to punch their weight in a global economy’.
