Dorset Council is holding talks with Whitehall as it expects to breach an agreement to pay off its dedicated schools grant (DSG) deficit.
The council has a so-called safety valve agreement in place with the Department for Education (DfE) under which the Government had pledged to provide £42m to balance Dorset's DSG deficit by 2026-27.
