Newcastle City Council’s boss has said new procedures have been put in place after the local authority pleaded guilty to a health and safety breach.
Chief executive Pam Smith said the council had pleaded guilty ‘at the first available opportunity’ and ‘fully accepted there were failings in our processes’ after six-year-old Ella Henderson was killed by a falling tree at a school in September 2020.
