Council workers warned of ‘assault on pensions’

Legislation making its way through Parliament could have dire consequences for the pensions of local government employees across the board, a union has warned.

Chief secretary to the Treasury, Steve Barclay, told MPs a cap on exit payments in the public sector will ‘end six-figure pay-offs’ as the proposed law cleared another hurdle this week.
