Councils have 'irreplaceable' role in levelling up

Councils are ready to work with central government to deliver change in communities, president of chief executives' organisation Solace, Joanne Roney, has said.

She told the Solace Summit in Hull today that having proven its worth during the pandemic, the sector had shown it was best placed to lead the recovery.

Ms Roney said: ‘It’s clear to me – and many others – that if the Government wants to deliver meaningful change in our communities and economies then local government, and therefore council officers, will have a crucial and irreplaceable role to play.’
