Data breach fine threat lowered

Councils are at lower risk of receiving fines for data breaches under reformed plans to regulate public bodies announced by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Information Commissioner John Edwards said last week he will now only issue fines against public bodies for the most serious data breaches.
