Deal to end Brum bin strike

Birmingham City Council’s long-running dispute with union Unite appears to be over after the sides brokered a deal protecting pay while modernising waste management roles.

Britain’s largest local authority had been at loggerheads with Unite over the council’s initial proposals to save £5m a year by modernising waste collection services and redefining key roles.
