Disaster resilience strategy to spotlight local authorities

Local government is bracing itself for an over-the-top reaction from Whitehall as it works to develop a new strategy for resilience in major disasters.

The Cabinet Office’s civil contingencies team is exploring how central government can better assure itself that resilience standards are being met locally, and how it can better and more quickly spot which councils might struggle to respond to a major civil emergency.
