Pressure was this week growing on ministers to publish the legal advice behind their decision to ‘pause' local government reorganisation and announce a review.

Writing for The MJ, Cllr Kevin Bentley, a senior vice chairman at the Local Government Association (LGA), called for ‘all legal opinions' given to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) on the reorganisation process to be disclosed through a humble address to Parliament.
