EXCLUSIVE: 5,000 jobs to be scrapped

Up to 5,000 council employees working on housing benefit could be made redundant, ministers are expected to announce.

The blow to thousands of council benefit administrators comes in the wake of a government decision not to employ them in Whitehall after Universal Credit is rolled out in stages.
