EXCLUSIVE: Porter intervention in waste plans

A former Conservative chairman of the Local Government Association has angrily criticised the Environment Bill’s waste reform proposals.

Lord Gary Porter, who is also leader of South Holland DC, told The MJ: ‘If the Environment Bill goes ahead as it is it will fail to deliver what it seeks to do, which is to reduce waste.

'It is neither practical or affordable – nor will it resolve the root causes of the problem.’
