Council chief executives that demote the finance director role from the top team were being ‘too clever by half,’ Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy boss Rob Whiteman has said.
Speaking at The MJ’s Future Forum North event last week, Mr Whiteman said he was not aware of any other type of organisation in the public or private sector that was relegating the finance director role at the same rate.
