Future Forum North: Emergency planning needs boost amid climate change concerns

Emergency planning training needs to be improved as we face more frequent extreme weather conditions, Rotherham MBC’s assistant chief executive has said.

Shokat Lal, told The MJ's Future Forum North the council would learn lessons from the flooding to prepare for further incidents.

He continued: ‘The future is for us going to be more challenging around weather conditions and how we manage that, especially with budget cuts to emergency planning.

'It’s important it is resourced right.’
