Government ignores sugar levy calls

The Government has ignored Local Government Association (LGA) calls for the sugar levy to be spent by councils to tackle physical inactivity.

The Government has ignored Local Government Association (LGA) calls for the sugar levy to be spent by councils to tackle physical inactivity.

Local authorities had called for money raised from the soft drinks industry levy to be reinvested in council-run initiatives to boost physical activity and other support to tackle childhood obesity.
