Government seeks clampdown on independent accommodation for children

Proposals to ban the use of independent accommodation for younger children in care have been met with caution from councils.

Education secretary Gavin Williamson today said he would consult on ending the practise of independent and semi-independent placements for under-16s following an increase last year.
