Greater Manchester secures £65m lockdown fund

Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham has said he expects to get ‘at least’ £65m from the Government to support people affected by tier three coronavirus restrictions.

It was reported last week that tier three lockdown negotiations between Westminster and Manchester broke down after the Government refused to meet Mr Burnham’s demand for £65m to support low-paid employees who were unable to work.
