Hammond comes under renewed pressure on social care

Chancellor Philip Hammond has come under renewed pressure to invest fresh cash into adult social care in this week’s Budget.

The cross-party Communities and Local Government Committee, chaired by Labour MP Clive Betts, urged the chancellor to free-up short-term cash to help overcome the immediate social care funding crisis - and to produce a long-term plan to address the issue amid rising costs to local authorities.
